A prolific writer, Becca is always working on original material whilst perfecting her inviting sound and captivating performance. Her handcrafted Pop/R&B songs feature catchy melodies – often with an acoustic edge. Becca draws influence from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke and Etta James. These influences, combined with those of modern icons such as Beyonce, Lauryn Hill and Brandy have inspired Becca to create commercial, melodically rich music with no fear of expressing an independent female attitude. Her late grandfather, who was an opera singer, has inspired her work ethic and passion for music. Listening to Becca Fox, you can expect to hear honest and powerful lyrics, expressed through her strong vocals and intricately decorated melodies.
The debut single ‘Dangerous’ received very positive reviews on Bauer Radio Scotland’s ‘In:Demand Uncut’ hosted by Jim Gellatly, who tipped Becca as ‘standing out in the crowd’, having a ‘very bright future ahead of her’. Her follow up single, ‘Second Chance’ has broken through to American Radio. The strong, mid tempo track demonstrates strength to overcome heartbreak from a broken relationship, and the power to resist allowing the relationship to re-kindle.
Becca’s debut E.P, #The9thSign showcases her R&B/pop songwriting craft with an unplugged edge. Alongside her solid commercially produced tracks available online, this E.P stands out in contrast with a ‘stripped back’ feel, allowing Becca’s honey toned vocals to take the spotlight.
A wealth of performance experience allows her to showcase her original R&B/Pop style in a number of formats – either simply accompanying herself on guitar/piano, singing to fully produced tracks or with the help of her live band. This may be seen as a fairly unusual move for a gigging pop/R&B artist, but it is one that she does with pride and finesse. Supporting Rizzle Kicks at the HMV Picturehouse, and performances at King Tuts Glasgow and the o2 ABC2 highlights Becca’s drive, ambition and dedication to push her career forward through performing at prestigious venues.
Writing music began with catchy original songs on her piano and guitar. In 2012, she teamed up with Scandinavian production team Pollyvolt. Their hip-hop and R&B influences and slick but punchy commercial production has helped Becca nurture ”…her very own brand of acoustic R&B.” – Glasgow South And Eastwood Extra, 10/08/2012
